The modern approach to social events

Equality as a fundamental human right is and has always been promoted across all social media as an important social value, however it’s true that this engagement has always been questioned. Even the Black lives Matter movement, for instance, faced arguments such as why don’t we say All lives matter. However it’s important to remember that the radicalisation of a particular idea has always been used as a mean to call attention to the most neglected social groups or individuals. Those who judge or critically approach minorities movements and attack them for their exclusivity, would eventually need to consider that.

Naturally, any objection to these movements has been seen as a threat. And I couldn’t disagree, since we’re talking about human rights which are the basis of our current, at least, western ethical ideology at this point of our history. Since we are no longer driven by secular religious dogmas. There were always moments when particular social issues would have a stronger resonance, which is natural. However we would all agree that it should rather be a continuous “battle” or part of a normal and continuous social discussion. If it’s still an emotional discussion, we are far from the objective. And it should definitely not attract attention only when an unfortunate even takes place, such as a murder.

From this standpoint, I refuse to judge these social trends, since ideological extremism has always been used as a mean to achieve, at the end of the day, some stability and justice, which on a long run would become a norm. Until the day when the process of inclusion itself would no longer be needed. Though, I’m not a fan of the term “inclusion”, but that’s another story.

In fact, we can admit that in a free society, the difference of opinions is something to be considered, valued and respected. This freedom can also sometimes be perceived as a threat. However, the perfect social mindset takes time to be formed and it will never exist given the generational, educational, cultural backgrounds of each individual, not to talk about personal experiences. So we can agree that perfectionism, as anywhere and here is a utopia. A holistic approach to social education could however help in nurturing the exercise of thought and of critical thinking. These last aren’t possible without a suitable educational program. At the same time, any educational initiatives do obviously go along with a satisfactory economic condition of “Peoples”. Economic discrepancies do strongly influence the mood and the lack of social engagement. In this case, an equal society would never be possible without a social state which ensures that basic human needs are met. It’s worth stressing that lack of educational basis can also lead to the exacerbation of causes and to violence if those social events are not correctly presented and translated. And we all know that violence never lead to any constructive results.

It also does feel like any negative social event results in an over engagement in social media, which can be tricky. It may undoubtedly reflect people’s real frustrations and their real understanding of cause, however it may simply reflect a mere, often, hypocrite, adherence to trends for financial, economical or for self-promotional purposes. It doesn’t always give us a clear understanding of whether we are all on the same page. These trends may also create a feeling that some social causes are being neglected which results in comparisons. The inequality thus ends up being unavoidable in a society that stresses some causes and neglects others, creating again, a feeling of frustration and hatred. The truth is: imposing social values at the light of HRD does not lead to progress, however education and open social debate without censorship — does. We do still lack the understanding of what is good and what is bad. And that’s because we don’t learn about, we’re too busy fighting our personal battles, about which we often also don’t understand much. #blacklivesmatter #equality #socialjustice #justice #humanrights
